Johanna Waldorf, ARAD, RAD RTS
Graduate of the Vancouver Goh Ballet Professional Program, soloist of Balletto del Sud, Italy, and dance educator with a diploma in dance teaching from the Royal Academy of Dance, Durham University, United Kingdom, Johanna has been inspired not only by her professional career on stage, but also years of educating young dancers.
Her passion for teaching began at a very young age when asked to assist with younger levels at her childhood ballet school. Throughout her professional dance career she continued her teaching path, instructing daily ballet classes to students at Goh Ballet summer schools, the School of Balletto del Sud, and multiple levels of the Arts Umbrella Dance Program. Although she utilizes the Royal Academy of Dance syllabi and examinations, her methods have also been diversified through training and performance in other styles and techniques such as Vaganova, Cecchetti, Bournonville, Balanchine, as well as multiple modern and contemporary dance techniques.
She opened her own school in 2016 with the goal to provide a focused and inspiring environment for young dancers to develop their knowledge and understanding of classical ballet. The addition of contemporary and modern dance styles creates a versatility and strength in the dancers and their movement quality that is required by today's standard of professional dance companies around the world.
Waldorf Ballet has moved into a new purpose-built dance facility at 5590 Wharf Avenue, Sechelt, BC, where Johanna continues to pass along her passion and experience to her students along with the support of a knowledgeable team of instructors and guests.
